The Droughtlanders: Book One in Triskelia Series by Carrie Mac
This fantasy novel has an opening which both repels and attracts the reader in a dramatic way, and the excitement and suspense continue until the last page is reached. The story revolves around twin brothers, Seth and Eli, who have grown up as part of the elite Keylander class. Keylanders are warned to stay within their boundaries to avoid the dirt, chaos and sicks of the Droughtland world. Seth has pledged to join the Keyland guards and help rid the world of Droughtlanders completely.

Keylands and Droughlanders, the ultimate struggle for survival and the classic story of good verses evil. Who is right and who is wrong?
Note from Ms. Secord:
It seems that every author I read these days has jumped on the "series bandwagon" and this book is no exception. Does anyone else crave to read a story that starts and ends in the same book?

I loved this book, it's the best one i've read so far out of the nominated ones. Great plot and amazing cliffhanger
I can say I enjoyed this book. And, usually...I don't like Future-Fiction works...I'll mimic Patricia in saying that the Cliffhangers were just enough to keep me reading, and I definately look forward to the next installment.
Yet, at the same time, I am peeved that there HAS to be another installment. I wouldn't care if the book actually took a thousand pages to finish in it's entirity; the having to wait until the next book usually is enough to get me to stop reading right then and there. I mean; yeah, I'd like to finish reading a story with one book once in a while: not have to buy/borrow two or three other books to do it. If I had to buy the books, I would not have read it at all. Most of the time, I think it is more about: Hmm...how many books can I get people to buy as a publisher to get more money, rather than getting a good story across.
I loved this book. Towards the end is a great plot deepener. I like the series idea so long as I can access all the books at once - meaning I sort of like waiting a bit to read installements in a series. Watching the main character run away from home and explore the droughtland areas is amazing. Full of detail, complex ideas thrown into the story, and the book shown from many perspectives, this is an amazing book.
